Gran Turismo 7 2023 Olympic Sports Series Motorsport Event

Gran Turismo 7 2023 will serve as the platform for the Olympic Esports Series 2023 Motor Sport Event, a collaboration between the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and Polyphony Digital Inc.

It has been revealed that Gran Turismo 7 will serve as the platform for the Olympic Esports Series 2023 Motor Sport Event, a collaboration between the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and Polyphony Digital Inc. At the middle of April, an online time trial will start (eligibility criteria to be announced at a later date). The finals will take place in front of a live audience in Singapore on June 22-25, 2023, during the first-ever Olympic Esports Week.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) in conjunction with International Federations (IFs) and game companies has developed the Olympic Esports Series, a worldwide tournament for virtual and simulated sports. A variety of other virtual sports will be available alongside motorsports.

When asked about Gran Turismo’s inclusion in the Olympic Esports Series 2023, the series’ producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, said, “We are extremely excited about it and it is excellent for fans of GT and the community.” The event took place at Olympic House in Lausanne. What we are seeing is something that began for us in 2008 with the launch of GT Academy, when we were transitioning from sim racing to actual racing. With the passage of ten years, we are seeing a shift in the sports scene, one in which the lines between the digital and physical continue to blur. A major shift in that direction has occurred with the advent of the OES. Athletes from both the virtual and actual worlds will be indistinguishable from one another, and their careers will benefit from the experience. Throughout the last century, sport has been developing, and this is the most recent change.

Robert Reid, Vice President for Sport at the FIA, sees the Olympic Esports Series 2023 Motor Sport Event as a fruitful partnership for the FIA on many fronts. I am thrilled that the FIA is partnering with the International Olympic Committee and Gran Turismo for the second year in a row to host this ground-breaking esports competition. “The Olympic Esports Series fits in well with our plan to attract new fans to our great sport and help us achieve our goal of doubling motorsport participation. Besides being a fantastic demonstration of equality, diversity, and inclusiveness, esports encourage widespread involvement since they lower the usual obstacles to admission.

For the first time ever, the Olympic Esports Series 2023 will conclude in a live, in-person final, with the winners earning a spot in the Olympic Esports Finals 2023. The finals are set to take place in Singapore’s Suntec Centre from June 22-25, 2023, and are set to be a major part of the newly announced Olympic Esports Week 2023.

Olympic Esports Series Chair and IOC Representative for Electronic Sports David Lappartient remarked, “The Olympic Movement brings people together in peaceful competition. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 will carry on this tradition with the aim of expanding the competitive landscape for both players and spectators. We’re excited to see the finest in the world compete on the biggest platform possible, and we also want to work together to discover new ways to improve health, education, and innovation.

Players from all around the world will gather in Singapore for this one-of-a-kind tournament to battle it out in front of cheering spectators for the coveted Olympic Esports Series championship. There will be a worldwide audience able to watch the exciting finals action on Olympic.com and Olympic social networks.

Valerio Gallo of Italy won the online Gran Turismo competition at the 2021 Olympic Virtual Series.
