Here's a quick breakdown of what’s coming, what’s speculated, and why this March update might be more important than it looks.

Kazunori Yamauchi, the man behind the wheel of Gran Turismo, has posted his now traditional teaser image, giving fans an early peek at what’s arriving. And when we say early, we mean it. Usually, these silhouettes show up over the weekend before the update. This time? Early Friday morning. And once again, it shows three vehicles. Sounds normal, right? Not quite. Because one of them is not what most people would even call a “car.”

New Cars

Let’s start with the one on the far right. It looks a lot like the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage. This model debuted with a twin-turbo AMG sourced V8, pumping out around 500 horsepower. There was a V12 version too, but judging by the silhouette, it’s probably the original V8 version. Still, this is a pretty goo car. It’s sleek, it’s fast, and it’s one of those dream cars people love to thrash around virtual tracks.

Now jump over to the left side. This one’s a bit of a curveball. It looks like a Renault Kangoo. That’s right. A van. But don’t roll your eyes just yet. This small, front-wheel drive commercial vehicle is light, based on the Clio platform, and surprisingly fun to drive in real life. What makes this especially interesting is the potential. Polyphony Digital, the studio behind GT, has a habit of throwing wild engine swaps into unexpected cars. So imagine taking this humble delivery van and dropping a monster engine into it.

And then there’s the one hiding in the back. At first glance, it’s clearly a modern Mazda. The curves, the front end, the proportions, they all scream CX-30. That’s a compact crossover that shares a lot with the Mazda 3, and it likely comes with Mazda’s quirky SkyActiv-X engine. That’s the one that blends diesel efficiency with gasoline performance. It’s an unusual choice for GT7, but for players who love road cars and realism, it might be a surprisingly satisfying drive. But maybe this isn’t random at all. There’s a good chance this addition is tied to the recent extension of the Gran Turismo World Series partnership with Mazda.

Possible BoP Update

With the official Gran Turismo World Series kicking off on April 2, it wouldn’t make much sense to launch into a new competitive season without tweaking the Balance of Performance (BoP). In fact, a BoP update feels almost inevitable at this point.

So yes, new cars are okay. But if you're planning to compete or even just play online, keep your eye out for those patch notes.
