Having seen your recent video on the dirty air topic with regard to Gr2 @ Laggo, I was hoping someone might give me a good explanation of this.

From watching the streamers - it seems you can "get in the slip" and it pulls you up.  But I have never once gotten behind someone and thought "wow, I'm suddenly going faster and can now overtake this guy!"  (Is that Custom Slip?)

I have gone side-by-side at the esses of Deep Forest and lost all control all of a sudden.  I think I was in a Radical.  Was that dirty air giving me no downforce?

How close do you have to be to pick up the slipstream from the person in front?  What's the "danger zone" from the wake in front?  Is it just air molecules that are less dense, and therefore less downforce available for your car, and is that a problem on a straight too or just when you are turning?  (And is that only on Real setting?)

Is there a slipstream advantage to the person in front as well, if you are very close behind, smoothing out the dirty air behind them?  (There is IRL, but I mean in GT7)

Thanks in advance!

"Slipstream : Driving very close to the car in front of you

What does it do? Reduces downforce, sends the wind over your car, helping you go faster, but also reduces stability around the corners, where this wind turns into dirty wind.

On straights : Less downforce required for more speed

On corners: More downforce required for more stability"

Generally on GT7 to be in the slipstream you need to be directly behind the car in front or taking the same line as them round corners and be within 1 second of them (in general).

Depending on the slipstream setting on GT7 (chosen by PD when they setup the online races for the week) can depend on how must of a boost you get from the slipstream and if you encounter dirty air or not round the corners.

Thank you very much.  Is there anyone who can speak to the specific differences between Real / Weak / Custom?  And do these settings, as defined by PD, change from update to update?

With Real slip you get reduced downforce when driving close behind someone all over the track. This reduced downforce causes less grip and therefore you will go faster than the person in front of you. Therefore closing quicker and it's easier to overtake. However, the lower downforce and the subsequent lower grip also causes it to be more difficult to follow someone closely through corners.

Custom slip gives you the lower downforce and grip in a straight line. Making it easier to gain and overtake. But doesn't give you the same lower downforce and grip in corners. Making it easier to keep following into the corners.

Weak slip is just what it says. A weak version of real.

Hope this helps. If I'm wrong somewhere please feel free to correct me.

Enjoy the race!
