The sim racing world was hit with a serious shock this week, Fanatec has quietly raised prices across nearly its entire U.S. product lineup. The change came alongside the launch of Fanatec’s brand-new website.
These changes aren’t random. While Fanatec hasn’t made an official statement, the timing lines up almost perfectly with the recent announcement of massive new tariffs from the Trump administration. As of April 9, all Chinese imports to the U.S. are subject to a jaw-dropping 104% tariff, more than double the cost. And since Fanatec’s gear is manufactured in China, it’s now squarely in the crosshairs of these new trade rules. Even though Fanatec is now owned by U.S.-based Corsair, that doesn’t exempt them from the import costs. So, guess who’s covering the difference? You guessed it, the customer.
Fanatec Price Surge
This was the go-to entry point for PlayStation users wanting to step into direct drive. At $749.99, it was considered reasonably priced for what you got: official GT branding, solid build quality, and a plug-and-play experience. At $949.99, though? You're now paying almost $1,000 for a 5 Nm base, which starts to feel like low torque for a high price.
The price increase here is 50%, from $99.99 to $149.99, and that’s a big leap for a product that was marketed as “budget-friendly.” While still usable for newcomers, the value is no longer what it used to be.
These have always been solid: load cell brake, aluminum construction, customizable. A $70 bump (to $469.99) doesn’t kill them, but it does make them harder to get.
This wheel delivers elite-level F1-style racing immersion. At $1,349.99, it was already a high-end product, but the new price of $1,699.99 puts it at a point where people might start considering building a full custom rig instead. But we suspect that the prices of other products might to up as well.

Fanatec gear has always had that "premium but accessible" sweet spot. You paid more than entry-level, sure, but you got reliability, performance, and a big-name brand that worked across platforms. But, we're not done yet.
The 104% tariff is brand new, and there’s a good chance Fanatec and Corsair haven’t fully baked it into their new pricing yet. If supply chains tighten, or if China responds with countermeasures that hit raw materials or manufacturing, we could be looking at even more volatility in the next few months.
