During the Gran Turismo World Finals in Monaco, Ferrari finally presented its highly awaited Vision GT experimental car. It's quite a looker, as you'd expect from the famed Italian business! Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari's Senior Vice President of Design, and Kazunori Yamauchi, the developer of Gran Turismo, held a small media presentation prior of the car's grand unveiling during the Nations Cup live stream.
“We started the Vision GT project 9 years ago, and we finally have a Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo,” Yamauchi-san said. “We are very excited for it now. It’s been several years since I went to Maranello to meet with Manzoni. It’s a dream come true, and an exciting moment for us.” "Our team began two and a half years ago," Manzoni said. "It is critical for myself and Ferrari because it envisions the brand's future." The objective was to imagine what shape the future supercar might have. This was not an easy task. The concept of this car was defined via a project that involved all of Ferrari's divisions, particularly aerodynamics and engineering." Manzoni went on to highlight where the team received inspiration and what lead them to the final design. "The aim was to create something that appears to be a contradiction but is not," he explained. "We wanted to create something precise and sharp, yet still organic." This contrast creates something truly unique. It creates a new language and vocabulary that can inspire us in the future." "We sought a kind of seamless effect between the inner and outer surfaces, to create an organic entity where
The artist Anish Kapoor had a big influence on the Ferrari design team. "We looked at instances of limitless surfaces, which are the main inspiration for Anish Kapoor's iconic works." The interior wheel is inspired by the video game in which the car appears, with joysticks similar to a gaming console controller. The wheel itself has no mechanical connection and instead use steer-by-wire technology to provide the driver with force input, similar to a game peripheral.
There isn't much information about the powertrain, but it's a hybrid engine powered by Ferrari's latest V6 engine, which produces over 1,350 horsepower. The wheel was influenced by video games, featuring joysticks similar to those seen in gaming controllers. With a steer-by-wire steering column, the wheel itself has no mechanical connection, but they aim to express all of the driving emotions when you drive it. The car will be accessible in Gran Turismo 7 on December 15 for players who successfully finish the Gran Turismo World Finals "Viewer Campaign." The Ferrari Vision GT will be available in Brand Central on December 23 for everyone else. Previous Next
