Polyphony Digital has rolled out Update 1.55 for Gran Turismo 7, bringing new content, improved physics, and several quality-of-life changes. The update includes new cars, events, and refinements to the game's driving mechanics. Below is a detailed breakdown of the major changes introduced in this update.
New Cars Added
Four new cars have been introduced to the game:
Gran Turismo F3500-A
Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) '87 (Available in the Used Cars dealership)
Hyundai IONIQ 5 N '24
Toyota C-HR S '18
Gran Turismo Sophy Expansion
The AI-powered Gran Turismo Sophy has been implemented on two additional tracks:
- Autódromo de Interlagos
- Mount Panorama
(Note: Gran Turismo Sophy mode is available exclusively on the PS5 version of the game.)
New World Circuit Events
New events have been added to World Circuits, providing fresh challenges for players:
- Autódromo de Interlagos - World Touring Car 600
- Sardegna - Road Track - Japanese FF Challenge 450
- Kyoto Driving Park - Sunday Cup
Café Updates
A new Extra Menu has been introduced:
Extra Menu No. 43: Collection: Group C (Requires Collector Level 48)
Brand Central and GT Auto Additions
Brand Central: New museum entries for AMG and MINI.
GT Auto: Engine swaps are now available for several cars (unlocked at Collector Level 50), including:
Alpine A110 1600S '72
Citroën DS 21 Pallas '70
Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) '87
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR '04
Porsche 356 A/1500 GS GT Carrera Speedster '56
Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) '22
Renault R5 Turbo '80
Renault R8 Gordini '66
Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi '04
Scapes Update
A new featured curation, Chromatic Drive, has been added to Scapes mode.
Driver Rating (DR) System Update
The Driver Rating (DR) system has been updated, specifically for A+ rated players. The DR range has been expanded from 50,000 – 100,000 to 50,000 – 150,000, allowing for a greater distinction between top-tier drivers.
This change may impact matchmaking, making it easier to differentiate between high-level players, particularly at the upper end of the A+ rating. It could also create a wider skill gap within the A+ category, potentially influencing race dynamics and competition at the highest level.
Physics Simulation Enhancements
The most important updates in this patch include significant adjustments to the physics and handling models, particularly in suspension behavior, tire physics, and car performance. The reduction in sudden behavior changes over bumps improves stability, while refinements in tire load dependency and grip recovery enhance overall drivability.
A major change is the complete BoP (Balance of Performance) adjustment, affecting most cars in the game, including Gr.1, Gr.2, Gr.3, and Gr.4 categories. This update significantly impacts competitive racing by altering power and weight distribution across various cars.
That's the reason why we've seen a major change in the cars picked for Daily Races.
All updates can be found here.
From my perspective, the physics changes don’t seem to have drastically affected car handling, but I do feel that weight transfer is now more noticeable through the steering wheel. Other adjustments, such as suspension and differential tweaks, are less apparent. However, the improvements in force feedback and steering response make a noticeable difference, especially for wheel users.
