GT Omega Pro Wheel Stand Review

GT Omega Pro Wheel Stand Review

In this review, we put the GT Omega Pro Stand to the test and see if it really makes a difference for sim racers with limited space. I’m running a powerful direct drive setup (GT DD Pro, Formula V2.5, ClubSport V3 Pedals) to find out how stable, adjustable, and foldable this stand truly is.

Unboxing & Assembly

After setting everything up, I was actually able to start playing right from my sofa. But honestly, most people would probably prefer using a chair, since it doesn't move around as much. That’s why GT Omega includes a seat tray with rubber pads underneath, and it really helps keep everything steady. Naturally, I had to test it out! And in my experience, the tray made a noticeable difference. Everything stayed firmly in place, even under heavy braking.

I also want to mention that putting everything together was surprisingly easy. I didn’t use the handbrake mount, mainly because I don’t own one, but from what I saw, it looks simple enough to install if you need it. All in all, it only took me about 30 minutes to assemble the entire setup. Honestly, not a big deal at all. The instructions were clear, and yes… I actually followed them this time! The only thing missing was the guide for the Chair Link, so I just installed it the way that made the most sense. Maybe I got it right, maybe not, but hey, it worked! Bottom line: I had zero issues with the assembly, and all my equipment fit perfectly on the stand.

For the test, I also used my regular office chair, also from GT Omega, by the way, which you can check out here. It’s the chair I use every day, and once I got everything dialed in… it was game time.

Driving Experience

Now, I’ll be honest, this setup isn’t exactly budget-friendly. I’m using the GT DD Pro from Fanatec, paired with the Formula V2.5 wheel and the ClubSport V3 pedals. So yeah… not cheap. But since it’s a direct drive system, and the pedals use a load cell, meaning they require quite a bit of force, I figured this would be the perfect way to really test the stand’s limits.

If anything was going to reveal weaknesses in the pedal tray or wheel mount, it’d be this setup. Of course, if you're running something like a Logitech G29, it'll work just fine, it’s lighter and probably won’t move around at all. But I wanted to push things to the extreme and really put the Pro Stand to the test. And honestly, I think the results speak for themselves. If you're currently racing with just a basic chair and desk, getting a setup like this will definitely improve your lap times. The added stability and consistency alone made a huge difference for me.

Folding Test

Now let’s talk about folding, which is supposed to be one of the big conveniences of a stand like this. And yes, it does fold… but with the wheel and cables still attached, it’s not exactly effortless. The equipment itself is pretty heavy, especially if you’re using something like the GT DD Pro and load cell pedals like I am.

To fold it properly, I had to unplug everything, power down the base, and then lift it, and yeah, it’s definitely on the heavier side. That said, the whole process only takes about a minute, maybe even less once you get the hang of it. And once folded, it barely takes up any space. You can easily tuck it away without it getting in the way.

If you're running a heavy-duty setup like mine, though, I'd honestly recommend just keeping it in one place, it'll save you the hassle. But overall, folding it isn’t hard… it really just depends on how much gear you’ve got mounted.

Flex and Adjustments

The pedals stayed firmly in place, even though they use load cells and require quite a lot of pressure. As for the stability of the wheel mount, it was surprisingly solid. I was using around 5 to 6 newton-meters of torque, and while there was a little movement, it was barely noticeable, certainly nothing that would affect your experience. In terms of adjustability, you can easily change both the angle and the height of the stand. It's a simple process and only takes a few seconds to do. Alright, with that covered, let's move on to the conclusion.
